Jeffery A. Bash, M.D. Orthopedic Spine

Jeffrey A. Bash, M.D. is a board certified Orthopeadic Surgeon specializing in spinal surgery. He is an expert in disc replacement of the cervical and lumbar spine. Dr. Bash participated in the first artificial disc replacement surgery in the United States. He is a leader in the field of minimally invasive surgery of the spine. Dr. Bash received his undergraduate degree from Emory University and his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine.

He then completed a General Surgery Internship at New York University Medical Center, followed by his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at New York University Medical Center-Hospital for Joint Diseases. Dr. Bash was selected to further advance his training at the world-renowned Texas Back Institute in Plano, Texas. During his Spine Surgery Fellowship, he learned all aspects of Spine surgery by training with the top leaders in the field of Spine surgery.

Following his training, Dr. Bash joined Middlesex Orthopedic Surgeons. His practice specializes in the treatment of all conditions of the spine. He offers both conservative treatments, including epidural injections and physical therapy as well as surgical alternatives for pain. He is the Chief of Spine Surgery at Middlesex Community Hospital. He operates at Middlesex Hospital, Hartford Hospital, The Hospital of Central Connecticut/New Britain General Hospital, Bristol Hospital and MidState Medical Center.

Dr. Bash was selected as Connecticut Magazine’s top surgeon in his field in 2007. He was awarded this top honor by a poll asking other doctors in Connecticut whom they would recommend to send their family for surgery.

Dr. Bash is the Co Director of Connecticut Spine Institute. He has been selected by Abbott Spine to teach other surgeons techniques of minimally invasive spinal surgery at its Northeast Regional Center of Excellence. Dr. Bash and Dr. Aferzon have the greatest experience in minimally invasive spine fusions in Connecticut. Dr. Bash has also been selected as one of twenty national sites by Applied Spine to conduct an FDA/IDE study for a new device to stabilize the spine without the need for a fusion.

Dr. Bash is an innovator in spinal surgery. Dr. Bash and Dr. Aferzon have authored several patents and are directly participating in the testing and development of new products for the spine. Dr. Bash serves on the Medical Advisory Board for US Spine. He also serves as a consultant to several spine companies.

Dr. Bash is a member of the National Association of Spine Surgeons and he is a diplomat of the American Board of Orthopeadic Surgeons. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopeadic Surgeons and is a member of the Society of Lateral Access Surgeons.
